...and here's that bumpin' NiteLite set from the one and only 'Mad Thinker' in November. Julius took the crowd on an emotional roller coaster and it was amazing ride we won't forget anytime soon. Chicago in tha house!
I have finally archived two sets I managed to record live at NiteLite this year. First up is Jay Tripwire from our One Year Anniversary Party in September. Jay killed it with his unrelentingly deep bodygrooves. These are my tiny THANK YOU presents to all who've supported NewCityMovement in 2008.

I found a delightful array of BLACK shiny objects to compliment my disdain for the holidays at TriFecTa's newly modeled establishment at 409 N. 300 W. Black-on-black playing cards, delicious candles, jewelry and cute forest animal shot glasses are worth a look, especially for 20% off during their 12 days till Xmas sale. Support this local business. Give them your money. Visit Tfadesign.com for more.
Looking for a for a for a more dramatic, way to welcome visitors? This CATWALK is a modular steel, rectilinear walkway illuminated by small L.E.D. lights. Soon to be available in a rainbow of fruit flavors. Check it out at Minimis. (Thanks Scott)
Ever wondered what happened to Black Chandelier? SLUG Magazine has a revealing article about Jared Gold this month. In the same issue, he interviews his childhood friend and featured cult comics illustrator Dame Darcy.
This cartoon brings to light an interesting social experiment proposed by Tom Ackerman. What if those who cannot be unionized stopped recognizing traditional marriage? Even if only in a cultural sense, the experiment proves a great way to get others to understand the need for equality. (Thanks Roger)
In celebration of and in collaboration with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Utah, in honor of their 50 years of advocacy in defending civil liberties, the Salt Lake Art Center has organized Liberties Under Fire featuring artwork by five artists who depict or suggest pivotal civil liberties issues identified by the ACLU of Utah including: Abuse of Power, Church and State, LGBT issues, Racial Justice and Torture, Imprisonment, and War. (Above: Kara Walker, Crest of Pine Mountain, Where General Polk Fell, Harper's Pictorial History of the Civil War, 2005) At the Salt Lake Art Center through Jan 18th.
If wish you lived in New York for the street fashion alone then Bill Cunningham's weekly 'On The Street' feature at the New York Times website will tickle you're fancy. It's become an office favorite because of his fabulous voice and queeny commentary.
The Salt Lake Gallery Stroll continues to morph and energize the city each month. This is a photo of my bow-tie wearing drunk ass from last Fridays event at FICE, which like the other shops around the 2nd South & Broadway block were brimming with youthful energy. A wonderful sight indeed.
Joe DiPadova (de-PAH-de-vah) performs from coast to coast, frequently
playing the very best parties with the worlds best djs at his side.
Quickly building a worldwide reputation as one of Global Soul's young
rising stars, Joe's adept combination of DJ and music production
talent, coupled with a kind, down-to-earth nature have helped him
garner the respect and friendship of not only the many people deeply involved with dance music music, but of crowds across North America.
Apart from DJing and production, one of the largest manifestations of his musical vision has come through event promotion, including his ongoing event in Phoenix called ONE (One People, One Soul, One Love). At this gathering, DiPadova brings together people of all color and sexual orientation through a common spool of thread - expression through dance and love of music.
With eye on the forefathers of the past and an ear to the progression of the future, Joe DiPadova has become a disciple through music, serving to make positive change via rhythm & dance. Whether it's through his deep and introspective productions or his music selections in Disco, Funk, Soul, Jazz & Techno based dance music with African and Latin rhythms, DiPadova's vocabulary in music transcends generations, continents and consciousness while interweaving gatherings of people into one elevated symposium of dance.
